Hawaii Tourism Authority board of directors reduced from 12 to 12 members with mandatory geographic representation from Honolulu and the counties of Hawaii, Kauai, and Maui.

Board members must have expertise in accommodations, transportation, retail, entertainment, or attractions, with at least one member having Hawaiian cultural practices knowledge; no more than three members may represent any single industry sector.

Three board members appointed by governor from nominees submitted by the senate president and three from nominees submitted by the house speaker; governor may disregard lists if fewer than three names submitted.

Board members limited to maximum of eight consecutive years of service, with governor required to notify legislature of unfulfilled qualification requirements so legislative leaders can submit qualified nominees.

Effective July 1, 2020, with new appointment qualification standards applying to all appointments made after July 1, 2015.
