Adds new section 444-— to Hawaii Revised Statutes allowing the Contractors License Board to accept reasonably equivalent knowledge, training, or experience in lieu of specific experience requirements for licensure, including self-employed or unlicensed experience.

Board discretion to accept alternative experience requires investigation and verification, with detailed written findings made available for public inspection.

Exempts elevator mechanics (defined in chapter 448H) from this alternative experience provision.

Amends section 444-11(a)(2) to incorporate the new equivalent experience standard by reference instead of the previous specific self-employed experience language.

Takes effect upon approval.
