HI HB1607

Establishes a pilot pesticide treatment coupon project within the Department of Agriculture's existing little fire ant program to distribute free coupons redeemable for pesticides and equipment to residents in Hawaii County who have reported verified little fire ant infestations on their property.

Requires the Department of Agriculture to create and periodically update a map showing all little fire ant sites in Hawaii County using available data and verified reports, to be posted on the department's website.

Mandates the Department of Agriculture submit a report to the legislature by January 2017 on implementation progress, including findings, recommendations, proposed legislation, and whether the coupon pilot project and site map should continue, terminate, or be modified.

Appropriates general revenue funds for fiscal year 2016-2017 to support the pesticide treatment coupon pilot project and little fire ant site map (specific amount left blank in bill text).

Effective date is July 1, 2016.
