University of Hawaii shall conduct a study on the effects of sunscreen used by swimmers and ocean users on Hawaii's coral reefs.

Study shall include recommendations on how to mitigate detrimental effects of sunscreen on coral reefs while considering impacts on residents and visitors who use sunscreen.

General revenue appropriation is authorized for fiscal year 2016-2017 to fund the study (specific dollar amount not specified in bill text).

University of Hawaii shall submit preliminary report to legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 regular session and final report no later than twenty days before the 2018 regular session.

Act takes effect on July 1, 2050.
