Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, in consultation with the Comptroller, shall develop both short-term and long-term strategies for upkeep, repair, and maintenance of Sunset Memorial Park in Pearl City, Oahu.

Director must examine all options for repairing and maintaining the cemetery, including the feasibility of State ownership of Sunset Memorial Park.

Director shall submit a report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2017.

Bill addresses decades of neglect at the cemetery, which has suffered from a damaged mausoleum, sinking graves, broken grave markers, and overgrown vegetation.

Act takes effect on July 1, 2050.
