HI HB2020

Appropriates general fund revenues to the Department of Land and Natural Resources for fiscal year 2016-2017 to conduct and contract studies identifying causes of decline in limu and reef fish along Oahu's Ewa coast.

Requires a three-year study to survey, inventory, and monitor macro-algae communities, including investigation of nutrient requirements for native species and invasive species like Avrainvillea amadelpha.

Directs DLNR to research and analyze previous hydrological studies to determine whether groundwater flows, nutrient levels, and their connection are causing the limu and reef fish decline.

Mandates a study reviewing and analyzing commercial limu and reef fish landings decline in the Ewa area of Oahu.

Effective July 1, 2016.
