Requires Department of Public Safety intake centers to collect or coordinate collection of data on incarcerated parents and their minor children.

Adds data collection as a new duty (paragraph 9) to the existing list of services provided by correctional intake centers under Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 353-10(b).

Directs collection of information about the number of incarcerated parents, number of minor children with incarcerated parents, and other relevant data to facilitate service provision.

Addresses documented lack of systematic data collection on incarcerated parents and their children, which has persisted despite task force recommendations in 2006 and 2008.

Takes effect upon approval.
