HI HB2210

Authorizes each county to establish a surcharge on real property taxes collected from oceanfront properties.

Limits surcharge rate to no more than a specified percentage of the property's net taxable value (percentage amount not filled in the bill text).

Requires counties that establish a surcharge to deposit collected funds into a coastal protection special fund for coastal protection and management programs and activities.

Fulfills the State's constitutional responsibility under article VIII, section 5 of the Hawaii Constitution to fund mandated programs.

Takes effect upon approval.
