Authorizes the Department of Public Safety director to contract with private entities to hire temporary corrections officers to maintain regular inmate visitation hours or ensure adequate staffing at correctional facilities.

Allows temporary private corrections officers to perform services and functions of regular corrections officers on a temporary basis notwithstanding collective bargaining agreements.

Requires any contract for temporary private corrections officers to not exceed a specified term (term length not specified in bill text).

Mandates that private corrections officers hired under this authority possess qualifications necessary to competently perform corrections officer duties as determined by the director.

Addresses the problem of corrections officer sick leave causing widespread cancellation of inmate visitation days, which negatively impacts inmate rehabilitation, facility safety, and officer well-being.
