Director of Health requested to establish a Sepsis Best Practices Group with one physician champion and one administrative representative from each of Hawaii's acute care hospitals.

Group to meet regularly to discuss best practices, educational opportunities, and federal sepsis policies; facilitate sepsis improvement needs-assessments within each hospital facility.

Group to monitor Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' National Quality Forum measure #0500 and its potential impact on Hawaii hospitals if adopted.

Group to develop a representative sepsis incidence baseline for the State, partner with critical access hospitals to disseminate best practices, and promote adoption of sepsis educational materials.

Group required to submit written report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session.
