Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources to authorize establishment of a monument on state land at the Naniloa Hotel dock area in Hilo honoring late Senator Gilbert Kahele.

Monument will feature a bronze plaque with wording prepared by the Kahele family, to be named "Gil Kahele Point," "Kahele Point," or another name selected by the family.

Naniloa Hotel and Tower Development Inc. has dedicated a perpetual license for the land and will construct and maintain the monument in first-class condition, including a fishing pole stand with keiki fishing poles available free to the public and hotel guests.

The monument's 270-degree ocean view symbolizes Senator Kahele's expansive dedication to public service for Hawaii, the island of Hawaii, and Hilo, particularly his efforts to revitalize Banyan Drive.

Directs certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Board of Land and Natural Resources Chairperson, Mayor of the County of Hawaii, and owners of the Naniloa Hotel and Tower Development, Inc.
