National Highway Traffic Safety Administration research estimates anti-crash technology could prevent 592,000 left-turn and intersection crashes annually and save 1,083 lives.

Anti-crash technology transmits a vehicle's position, heading, speed, and other data via radio signal to similarly equipped vehicles within 300 yards, enabling collision warnings.

The technology can detect vehicles about to run red lights even if hidden around corners and alert drivers to sudden stops of vehicles ahead before brake lights are visible.

Hawaii House of Representatives urges the United States Congress to enact legislation requiring anti-crash technology installation in all new vehicles manufactured in the United States.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, President Pro Tempore of the United States Senate, and Hawaii's Congressional Delegation.
