Requests the Department of Accounting and General Services to repair the State Capitol reflecting pools and strongly consider installing water fountains to improve water circulation and reduce algae growth.

Current annual cleaning costs are $100,000, with approximately $15.2 million needed for pool repairs; water fountains would create self-cleaning circulation and reduce maintenance expenses.

Water fountains would provide aesthetic and tourism benefits through biweekly evening water shows while maintaining compatibility with the historic character of the Capitol District.

Requires the Department of Accounting and General Services to submit a progress report to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2017 Regular Session, including recommendations for proposed legislation.

A 2011 departmental property condition report identified water fountain jets and reverse osmosis filtration as viable solutions to address circulation, aeration, corrosion, and algae issues.
