Requests the University of Hawaii Board of Regents to consider designating the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center as an official university center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.

The center is funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and develops training programs on homeland security and disaster management, with focus on natural hazards, coastal communities, and island territories.

The center is the only member of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium authorized to develop degree and certificate programs in homeland security and disaster management.

The center has trained over 19,000 participants and conducted training across all ten FEMA regions, 46 states, all five U.S. territories, and several federally recognized tribes.

Designation must comply with University of Hawaii administrative policies and enhance the center's ability to fulfill its mission; certified copies shall be transmitted to the Board of Regents, university leadership, and relevant department heads.
