H.R. 105 Summary

• Requests the Executive Office on Aging and University of Hawaii Center on Aging to establish a working group to review adult education services for seniors offered by the Department of Education and University of Hawaii.

• Working group shall examine whether consolidating duplicate programs at selected locations could improve service delivery and create funding for new learning opportunities for seniors.

• Requires the working group to include representatives from the Department of Education, University of Hawaii (Center on Aging, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Community Colleges, and Outreach College), AARP Hawaii, and Kokua Council.

• Working group members shall select a chair from among themselves and submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session.

• Directs transmission of certified copies to the Governor, Board of Education Chair, Superintendent of Education, University of Hawaii Chancellor and President, AARP Hawaii Executive Director, and Kokua Council President.
