Request the Waipio Valley Stakeholders Alliance (WVSA) to coordinate with Bishop Museum, Kamehameha Schools, Friends of the Future, County of Hawaii, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Trust For Public Land, State of Hawaii, and other interested parties regarding preservation and stewardship of Waipio Valley.

Address concerns about Bishop Museum's announced intent to sell its 537 acres (approximately 60% of valley floor) comprising approximately 100 tax map key parcels that include majority of taro growing lands and significant cultural sites such as Paka'alana Heiau.

Recognize Waipio Valley's cultural, historical, genealogical, and agricultural significance as a revered wahi pana (sacred place) central to Native Hawaiian culture for centuries, containing heiau, taro lo'i and auwai systems, fishponds, and burial sites.

Request WVSA submit a report of stewardship meetings including findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days prior to the commencement of the 2017 Regular Session.

Direct certified copies of the resolution be transmitted to the Governor, Office of Hawaiian Affairs, Trust for Public Land, County of Hawaii, Bishop Museum, Kamehameha Schools, Friends of the Future, and WVSA.
