Department of Transportation requested to secure funding to reinstate water taxi service from Iroquois Point in Ewa Beach to Pearl Harbor channel landing that was eliminated in March 2013 due to federal budget cuts.

Water taxi previously shuttled 150 to 200 commuters daily and reduced H-1 traffic congestion; reinstatement would benefit Ewa area residents as housing developments continue to increase traffic.

Department authorized to pursue funding through government funds, grants, private-public partnerships, military partnerships, or other entities.

Department of Transportation required to submit report with findings, recommendations, and proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session convenes.

Certified copies of resolution to be transmitted to U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Commander, Governor, Director of Transportation, Honolulu Mayor, and Honolulu City Council Chair.
