Congratulates seven student winners of the Hawaii: Next 50 Contest: Mana Harada (Maemae Elementary School), Angelica Devers (Kapolei Middle School), Febelie Rodriguez (Waipahu Intermediate School), Aolele Taulapapa (Kahuku High and Intermediate School), Mei Rosa (Manoa Elementary School), Alize Pagaduan (Highlands Intermediate School), and Sydney Millerd (Waipahu High School).

Contest was inspired by former Governor George Ariyoshi's book "Hawaii: The Past Fifty Years, The Next Fifty Years" and encouraged students to propose solutions for Hawaii's 100% renewable energy goal over the next 50 years.

Over 500 students from grades four through twelve submitted entries addressing topics including energy sustainability, agricultural independence, education system improvements, and preservation of native Hawaiian culture and environment.
