H.R. 2 - Early Childhood Sexual Abuse Working Group

• Requests the Department of Human Services convene a working group to address and reduce child sexual abuse in Hawaii, with research showing 17-25% of girls and 7-16% of boys experience sexual abuse before age 18.

• Establishes working group membership including the Chairs of Senate and House Human Services Committees, Directors of Health and Human Services, Superintendent of Education, representative from Early Intervention Section of Department of Health, and representative from Prevent Child Abuse Hawaii.

• Directs the working group to gather information on child sexual abuse throughout the state, hold public meetings to receive reports and testimony, and create goals for a state policy to prevent child sexual abuse.

• Requires the working group to submit findings and recommendations to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the 2017 Regular Session convenes.
