Request the Department of Education to convene a working group to review after-school programs in Hawaii's public middle and intermediate schools by July 1, 2016.

Working group review must include an inventory of existing programs, current costs and funding sources, student participation data, and recommendations to improve availability and quality.

Working group must identify ways to promote collaboration between agencies and stakeholders, and develop efficient approaches to address funding, logistics, and outcomes of after-school programs.

Superintendent of Education to chair the working group with members from Human Services, school principals, 21st Century Community Learning Centers, Hawaii P-20 Partnerships for Education, Honolulu Police Department, After-School All-Stars Hawaii, Kamehameha Schools, and the private sector.

Department of Education must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session convenes.
