HI SB2018

Establishes a housing program within the Department of Human Services to place homeless individuals with two or more chronic diseases into safe housing.

Defines "chronic disease" as any disease lasting three months or longer, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, and asthma.

Limits program to no more than 1,000 eligible housing providers and requires the Department of Health to evaluate and confirm qualifying individuals have two or more chronic diseases.

Authorizes the Department of Human Services to pay eligible housing providers $1,320 per month per housing unit to cover rent, repairs, and maintenance costs.

Appropriates $2,000,000 from general revenues for fiscal year 2016-2017 to implement the program, with an effective date of July 1, 2050.
