SB 2077 - Floor Amendment Summary

• Reduces credited service requirement from 30 years to 25 years for Class H ERS members hired before July 1, 2012 to qualify for special retirement benefits, with no age requirement.

• Reduces credited service requirement from 30 years to 25 years for Class H ERS members hired after June 30, 2012 to qualify for special retirement benefits, with a minimum age of 55.

• Provides retired employees with 9-12 years of service a monthly health insurance contribution equal to one-half the base rate under HRS §87A-33(b).

• Extends enhanced dependent-beneficiary health coverage to employees hired after June 30, 1996 but before July 1, 2001, allowing full contribution rates upon the employee's death.

• Reduces dependent-beneficiary health coverage contribution to one-half of applicable rates for employees hired after June 30, 2001 upon the employee's death.
