HI SB2142

Creates a new class C felony offense of "endangering public transportation" for tampering with public highways or public transportation facilities with intent to cause damage, malfunction, theft, or unauthorized material removal that creates substantial risk of death or serious bodily injury.

Defines "facility of public transportation" to include structures, fixtures, surfaces, underground objects, pipes, utilities, poles, wires, cables, and related equipment used to facilitate public transportation.

Does not affect rights, duties, penalties, or proceedings that were begun before the Act's effective date.

Becomes effective upon approval.
