S.B. 2327 Summary

• Authorizes boards of directors of cooperative housing corporations to install separate utility meters for individual dwelling units to measure use of electricity, water, gas, fuel, oil, sewerage, and drainage.

• Requires the cooperative housing corporation to bear the full cost of installing the meters, not individual residents.

• Extends to cooperative housing corporations the same separate metering authority that Act 18 (Session Laws of Hawaii 2012) provided to condominiums for consistency in housing law.

• Allows the board to authorize metering notwithstanding any conflicting provisions in the corporation's bylaws.

• Takes effect upon approval.
