HI SB2608

Requires the Hawaii Board of Education to conduct an annual self-evaluation of the board's performance and objectives based on assessments from board members.

Mandates the board develop standardized evaluation forms assessing six criteria: effectiveness as a planning and policy-making body, relationships with complex area superintendents and department staff, internal operations, curriculum development and student needs, financial oversight, and public relations.

Requires the board to report a summary of self-evaluation results to the legislature at least twenty days before each regular legislative session and post the summary on its public website.

Directs the board to conduct its first self-evaluation and report to the legislature within 180 days of the act's effective date.

Takes effect July 1, 2016.
