Courts must forward orders appointing guardians of incapacitated persons to the Hawaii criminal justice data center within fourteen days of appointment.

The Hawaii criminal justice data center shall transmit guardianship information to the Federal Bureau of Investigation for inclusion in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) database.

The Hawaii criminal justice data center must maintain guardianship orders for disclosure to law enforcement for firearms permitting and registration purposes under chapter 134.

This requirement applies retroactively to all existing guardianship orders regardless of appointment date.

The Act takes effect January 1, 2017.
