S.C.R. 101 Summary

• Requests the Department of Health to convene a task force to evaluate and recommend designs for accredited post-doctoral forensic training programs for psychiatrists and psychologists in Hawaii.

• Task force must consider training requirements meeting licensure standards for psychology and board certification by the American Board of Forensic Psychology and American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

• Task force must review accreditation requirements from the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education and Association for Psychology Postdoctoral and Internships Centers.

• Task force composition includes representatives from Department of Health, Attorney General, Public Safety, Judiciary, William S. Richardson School of Law, John A. Burns School of Medicine psychiatry department, University of Hawaii psychology department, and two independent community-based forensic examiners.

• Task force must meet monthly from July 2016 through December 2016 and submit final report with recommendations and proposed legislation no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session convening.
