Request the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii to conduct a feasibility study for a university hospital in West Hawaii.

Study should examine physician supply and demand, statewide patient needs, accredited educational models, stakeholder readiness, required resources and revenues, and realistic development timelines.

Proposed hospital would be located near Kona International Airport on state land adjacent to the Palamanui campus to serve the growing West Hawaii population and reduce patient transfers to Oahu.

University teaching hospital would address physician shortage, train medical professionals likely to remain in Hawaii, and provide specialized services including mental health, primary care, and veterans' services.

Transmit certified copies of the resolution to the University of Hawaii Board of Regents Chairperson, University President, and John A. Burns School of Medicine Dean.
