S.C.R. NO. 104 - Sepsis Best Practices Group

• Requests the Department of Health Director to establish a Sepsis Best Practices Group comprising one physician champion and one administrative representative from each of Hawaii's acute care hospitals.

• Directs the group to meet regularly to discuss best practices, educational opportunities, and emerging federal sepsis policies, and to recommend implementation of improvements as needed.

• Requires the group to conduct sepsis improvement needs-assessments at each facility, monitor Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services quality measures, establish a state sepsis incidence baseline, and partner with critical access hospitals to disseminate best practices.

• Mandates the group to encourage adoption of sepsis educational materials and initiatives by healthcare facilities across the state.

• Requires submission of a written report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2017 Regular Session convening.
