Request Department of Education to reduce use of standardized testing in public education system and develop authentic assessments that do not require extensive standardized testing.

Limit standardized testing (including practice and interim tests) to no more than 3 days per school year.

Require Department of Education to inform students and parents about the purpose, potential impact, protocol, and opt-out rights for standardized tests.

Direct Department of Education and Board of Education to hold meetings with principals, parents, and teachers to gather input on standardized testing impact and alternatives.

Cite concerns that overemphasis on standardized testing has narrowed curricula, reduced arts education, and disproportionately affected low-income students, English language learners, minority students, and students with disabilities.
