HI SCR20

Establishes a sister-state relationship between Hawaii and the State of Goa of the Republic of India, effective upon passage of this concurrent resolution.

Identifies shared characteristics between Hawaii and Goa, including coastal locations, diverse populations, multiple languages and religions, tropical landscapes, tourism-based economies, and commitment to environmental sustainability.

Authorizes the Hawaii Sister-State Committee to develop and implement the relationship, with the committee having previously reviewed and recommended establishment of the partnership.

Directs transmission of certified copies of the resolution to the Governor of Hawaii, Governor of Goa, Consul General of India in San Francisco, Director of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism, and Chair of the Hawaii Sister-State Committee.

Aims to promote mutual commerce, trade in tourism and film industries, and increase economic, social, cultural, educational, and environmental exchanges between the two states.
