Office of Aerospace Development requested to develop a plan for the Gil Kahele Aero Technology Campus in Hilo in agreement with specified state agencies and organizations including High Technology Development Corporation, University of Hawaii at Hilo, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, and County of Hawaii.

Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism authorized to request additional agencies and organizations to participate in the planning agreement.

Plan for the campus, including the proposed Hilo site, must be submitted to the Legislature no later than 60 days before the Regular Session of 2017 convenes.

Resolution aligns with state goals to create 80,000 new jobs with salaries over $80,000 in technology and innovation by 2030 and to expand aerospace, aeronautical, and aviation industries in Hawaii.
