Expresses endorsement and support for the Department of Land and Natural Resources to use durable and temporary geo-synthetic materials to protect the Kaanapali Beach Walk from shoreline erosion and coastal hazards.

Authorizes use of these protective materials as an interim measure until the beach nourishment program at Kaanapali Beach can be completed.

Notes that Kaanapali Beach contributes over $2 billion annually to the State and Maui County economies and serves as a critical recreational resource with approximately 6,000 lineal feet of public walking pathways.

References Hawaii's coastal protection policies and recent legislation (Act 117, 2015) allocating transient accommodations tax revenues for beach protection and preservation.

Requires certified copies be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Land and Natural Resources and the Mayor of the County of Maui.
