Department of Labor and Industrial Relations is requested to conduct a study to determine fair wages for medical marijuana dispensary employees in Hawaii.

Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, in cooperation with the Department of Health, must identify necessary positions in medical marijuana dispensaries.

Study findings must be submitted to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2017.

Resolution cites Hawaii's high cost of living (average Honolulu home price of $925,922), high state income tax (11 percent maximum rate), and opportunity to ensure fair compensation for the new medical marijuana dispensary workforce.
