Requests the Department of Land and Natural Resources authorize establishment of a monument honoring late Senator Gilbert Kahele at the Naniloa Hotel dock area in Hilo on state land.

Monument will feature a bronze plaque with wording selected by the Kahele family, named "Gil Kahele Point," "Kahele Point," or another family-selected name.

Naniloa Hotel and Tower Development Inc. has granted a perpetual license to use the land and will construct and maintain the monument in first-class condition at no cost to the state.

Monument will include a fishing pole stand with keiki fishing poles available free to the public and hotel guests, reflecting Senator Kahele's love of fishing.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Board of Land and Natural Resources Chair, Hawaii County Mayor, and Naniloa Hotel owners.
