Request the Department of Taxation to conduct a study on whether a state luxury tax would help address affordable housing, homelessness, and public education funding.

Direct the Department of the Attorney General, Department of Budget and Finance, and Council on Revenues to assist by providing necessary information and data for the study.

Require the Department of Taxation to submit a report with findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the start of the 2017 Regular Session.

Cite luxury taxes as a progressive tax tool that can redistribute income from wealthy consumers to fund solutions for societal challenges while ensuring lower-income consumers are not unduly burdened.
