HB1119 Summary

• Removes mechanized parking elevators, manlifts, aerial tramways, and personal automatic trains from the definition of "elevators and kindred equipment" subject to safety regulation under Hawaii boiler and elevator safety law.

• Extends the timeframe for the Director of Labor and Industrial Relations to reimburse the state general fund from the Boiler and Elevator Special Fund from five years to ten years, allowing more time to recover initial start-up appropriations.

• Makes technical housekeeping amendments to the fee schedules for boiler, elevator, and amusement ride inspections and permits, removing references to the newly excluded equipment categories.

• Effective date: July 1, 2050.
