• Amends Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 134-2 to require chief of police to send written notice within ten business days when denying a firearm permit application because the applicant is prohibited from owning firearms under federal or state law.

• Written notice of denial must be sent to the prosecuting attorney, attorney general, United States Attorney for the District of Hawaii, and director of public safety.

• Requires chief of police to notify the court that issued a protective or restraining order within three business days if the permit denial is based on such an order under Section 134-7(f).

• Requires director of public safety to determine if a denied applicant is currently serving probation or parole and, if so, notify the applicant's probation or parole officer of the denial.
