Appropriates $695,000 for fiscal years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 to the University of Hawaii at Hilo for rat lungworm disease research and prevention programs.

Directs funds toward laboratory testing of deworming methods, produce washes, water filters, and UV systems to reduce rat lungworm transmission.

Authorizes development of improved blood-based diagnostic tests and long-term recovery studies with medical treatment recommendations for rat lungworm disease patients.

Establishes educational outreach programs targeting rainwater catchment users, school personnel, and farmers on prevention and integrated pest management for rat lungworm hosts.

Appropriates additional unspecified funds to the department of health, department of land and natural resources, and department of agriculture for collaborative monitoring, pest management planning, and public education on rat lungworm prevention.
