Repeals Section 325-15, Hawaii Revised Statutes, which requires U.S. citizens and nationals returning to Hawaii after five or more years abroad to submit medical examination reports including tuberculosis testing to the Department of Health within 60 days.

Legislature finds that mandatory tuberculosis testing for returning citizens provides marginal benefits to tuberculosis control in Hawaii while being costly to maintain and impractical to enforce.

Eliminates burdens on travelers without significant risk to public health by removing the requirement for tuberculin skin tests or chest x-ray examinations upon return to the state.

Effective date: July 1, 2017.
