• Expands criteria for assisted community treatment orders to accept professional opinions from qualified APRNs in addition to psychiatrists when determining if a person can safely live in the community without supervision.

• Permits APRNs with psychiatric specialization to examine petition subjects, testify at court hearings, prescribe medication, and serve as treating providers in assisted community treatment cases.

• Defines "advanced practice registered nurse" in statute as a licensed nurse with advanced education, specialized clinical training, psychiatric specialization certification, and prescriptive authority under chapter 457.

• Extends APRN authority to provide family planning, pregnancy, and venereal disease services to minors without parental consent, consistent with existing physician authority.
