HB 985 Summary

• Creates a new section in Chapter 329D, Hawaii Revised Statutes requiring 10% of tax revenues from medical marijuana dispensaries to be deposited into the mental health and substance abuse special fund

• Amends Section 334-15, Hawaii Revised Statutes to authorize the mental health and substance abuse special fund to receive revenues from medical marijuana dispensaries in addition to existing certification programs and treatment services

• Allows the department to establish separate accounts within the special fund for different revenue sources and programs, with deposited moneys used for operating expenses of respective programs

• Effective July 1, 2017
