HI HCR165

Requests the State Auditor to conduct an assessment of the social and financial effects of mandating health insurers, mutual benefit societies, and health maintenance organizations to provide coverage for medically necessary cognitive rehabilitation therapy for traumatic brain injury survivors, as specified in S.B. No. 225, S.D. 1.

Requires the Auditor to consider studies on traumatic brain injury treatment published since the previous Auditor's Report No. 04-11 (issued in 2004), which had found the evidence inconclusive due to lack of standard definitions and effective treatment evidence.

Mandates that the Auditor submit findings, recommendations, and any necessary implementing legislation to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the start of the 2018 Regular Session.

Directs the Insurance Commissioner to transmit copies of the concurrent resolution to all health insurers in the State that issue health insurance policies, contracts, plans, or agreements.
