Department of Transportation must study the need for and feasibility of establishing a government-subsidized ferry service between Molokai and Maui islands.

Study must examine potential costs, financing options, and parameters of a ferry system.

Study must consider whether ferry service would benefit visitors, school athletic teams, and persons with disabilities.

Department must report findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session.

Resolution notes the Molokai ferry service ended in October 2016 after state subsidies were withdrawn in 1996, leaving air travel as the only interisland option.
