Request for the Board of Private Detectives and Guards to review security guard registration laws, including the policy of forfeiture rather than suspension of registrations.

Review whether the current $117 registration fee for a two-year period is too high relative to median security guard wages and comparable to other professions' licensing fees.

Study whether training instructor prices should be regulated by the Board, as current law allows instructors to set fees without statutory or administrative limits.

Examine whether security guard agencies should be prohibited from preventing employees from taking outside supplemental employment as a condition of paying registration and training fees.

Board must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation or rule amendments to the Legislature no later than twenty days before the 2018 Regular Session.
