Urges the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu and Honolulu City Council to allocate more resources to the Honolulu Police Department for increased visible police presence and active patrols in Downtown and Chinatown areas.

Cites recent crime increase in the areas including 34 reported incidents of auto theft, robbery, motor vehicle theft, burglary, theft, and graffiti between January 24 and February 6, 2017.

Notes specific crimes affecting the areas such as drug dealing, illegal gambling, robbery, purse snatching, and a fatal shooting in an illegal gaming room in September 2016.

States that increased visible police presence would deter criminal activity and provide more immediate assistance to crime victims.

Directs certified copies be sent to the Mayor, Honolulu City Council Chair, Honolulu Police Department Chief, and the Downtown-Chinatown Neighborhood Board Chair.
