Request the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu to rename West Loch Community Shoreline Park in Ewa Beach, Oahu to Kapapapuhi Point Park.

West Loch Community Shoreline Park was originally named Kapapapuhi Point Park according to maps from the early 1940s, as it is situated on Kapapapuhi Point.

"Kapapapuhi" means the flat or laying eel, and Hawaiian fishers describe a sacred kapapapuhi that leads schools of mullet around Oahu through Honouliuli in Ewa to offshore waters to sustain fishers with regular fish supplies.

Renaming the park reflects the uniqueness of Kapapapuhi Point and its significance to Hawaiian culture for the benefit of present and future generations.

Transmit certified copies of this resolution to the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu.
