Department of Health requested to convene a task force to examine issues related to state-licensed and state-certified care homes, including funding, compensation, accountability, licensing, monitoring, and inspection.

Task force membership includes the Directors of Health and Human Services (co-chairs), Director of the Executive Office on Aging, representatives from disability advocacy organizations, and one representative each from adult residential care homes, expanded adult residential care homes, community care foster family homes, and adult foster homes.

Task force is exempt from Chapter 84, Hawaii Revised Statutes.

Task force must submit findings, recommendations, and any proposed legislation to the Legislature no later than 20 days before the convening of the Regular Session of 2018.

Resolution acknowledges Hawaii's aging population and the growing need for long-term care services and supports in the state.
