Hawaii State Capitol is requested to adopt additional security measures by moving large planter boxes in front of building entrances to protect the rotunda and chambers from vehicle threats.

Department of Accounting and General Services and the Sheriff's Division at Hawaii State Capitol are directed to implement the planter box repositioning as a low-cost security solution.

Offices of the House and Senate Sergeant at Arms are requested to create a master plan for comprehensive security of the Hawaii State Capitol.

Hawaii State Capitol is requested to incorporate additional simple and sound security measures to protect employees and the public, including security measures such as identification checks and metal detectors similar to other state capitols and federal buildings.

Certified copies of the resolution shall be transmitted to the Governor, President of the Senate, Speaker of the House, Department of Accounting and General Services Administrator, State Sheriff, and Chief of Police of the Honolulu Police Department.
