Changes security guard registration renewal cycle from biennial (every two years) to triennial (every three years), effective June 30, 2018.

Requires continuing education of four hours during each triennial renewal period instead of biennially, with an exemption for guards registered within one year prior to renewal.

Adds requirement for Hawaii criminal history record check from the Hawaii criminal justice data center in addition to existing national criminal history record check for guard registration.

Allows high school education requirement to be satisfied by applicant attestation rather than requiring documentary proof.

Permits classroom instruction to be delivered through two-way teleconferencing and other interactive educational formats approved by the board.
